Shotover Country is where families actually live in Queenstown. While the lakeside suburbs chase views and tourists, this master-planned subdivision near Frankton and the airport was built for residents, modern homes on practical sections, its own Shotover Primary School, parks and local shops, so daily life doesn't require a trip into the tourist core. For investors, that resident orientation is the appeal: homes here let for NZD 800-1,000 a week with gross yields in the 4-5% range, well above the prestige lakeside suburbs, on the back of year-round worker and family demand. The caution is twofold, Queenstown's tourism-linked economy is cyclical, and the steady supply of new subdivisions nearby competes for the same tenants.
